So, what kind of robot should I make?
First, think about what the challenge is. The rules are specific in size of robot, but basically your robot must be able to traverse the “Disaster Arena” and find the survivor. Since, in real life we would be talking about a person in a dangerous situation time is of the essence. So, you want your robot to move quickly to find the person. Over the past few years we have seen some very creative robots competing whose creators are students. As a student competitor we have high expectations for what you can accomplish. Your robot must be autonomous. What good would it be if each robot had to have a human driver? The idea here is to conserve the highly trained first responders to the rescue side of the equation. Let the expendable robot do the searching. This competition is really about creativity. Think out of the box.
